Overview There are many other types of dolphins . In all, the dolphin family includes 26 recognized oceanic species, not counting the ones which are popularly considered to be whales (the Killer Whale and the Pilot Whale among them). Some, like Risso’s Dolphin, can be found throughout the world’s oceans, while others are more isolated. Hector’s Dolphin, for instance, is only found in the waters around New Zealand, while Heaviside’s Dolphin limits itself to 1,000 miles (1,600 kilometers) of the western coastline of Namibia and South Africa.
